ElephantDrive is offered in two different Editions for Linux. The Desktop Edition provides a user interface, and the Server Edition is CLI-based. All subscription types have access to both applications.
Desktop Edition
Currently, the Desktop Edition is only offered for the basic version of Ubuntu Desktop, thus only providing support for Gnome 3. To install the Desktop Edition on your device, follow the steps outlined below.
1) Download the package for your system
2) Open a terminal <ctrl-alt-t> and install the package:
$ sudo dpkg -i ElephantDrive.8.4.0.2024-03-01.amd64.deb
3) Open the ElephantDrive application, now available in the Applications menu, and log into your account. If you do not have an ElephantDrive account yet, you may create one here.
4) In the initial setup, you will be asked to select the location of the "My ElephantDrive" folder. This folder contains a regular backup folder named "Backup," and the "Everywhere" folder, allowing syncing files across devices.
4) Once the installation finishes, ElephantDrive will run as an application and be displayed in the system tray. You may now set up which folders to backup from the Web Access Panel.
